After picking up cousin Heath in Bellevue we drove for several hours through the Cascade mountains in torrential rain before arriving at Gingko petrified forest state park, which looks like this and was at least 20 degrees hotter:
Heidi made this attempt at an 80s album cover during our hike there:
So far the car ride has gone pretty well despite the word poop being used at least 400 times. I haven't asked Heath how he is holding up in the middle seat but I think this picture speaks volumes:
Also this is the back of our car, so we're pretty classy looking:

This blog is awesome! It was hard to choose but I might like the 80s album cover the best. The bag of potato chips kind of take it to a different level of coolness. My only complaint is that to post I had to figure out how to log in and create a password and I'm not sure I will ever remember it again so this may be the last post you see from me. Not to make this about me, this blog is about YOU and YOUR ADVENTURE. Not ME and MY ADVENTURE logging in to your blog site. Happy travels! Love Alyssa xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteAnd now I see a typo and I can't edit my post?!? What??!
ReplyDeleteBut again, this is about YOU not ME. Love the pics!!!
You were right, that is a silly statue. Typical New Yorkers preferring the statue over real horses, right?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Montana today! LOVE you guys!!
ReplyDeleteToday you do the 50 Museum Loop. Do you have any idea how long it would take mom to do that?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Montana and keep sending photos and narrative.
Love,
Dad
Alyssa,
ReplyDeleteNancy and I share your frustrations. Nancy's written two long comments only to have them disappear into the blogosphere!
Brian and Nancy
I think it took me about 5 tries!
DeleteHope to see you in NYC soon. We are in Eastham now for two weeks! Alyssa
Dear intrepid travelers you are so worthy of congratulations for packing, and, timeliness etc we are in awe of all of you. Well done Mike and Erin . Dad and I are going out to dinner with Sandy and Judy tonight at the Water Club. We'll think of you and wonder if you made it through all 50 museums. Good thing I' not along. Miss and love you Mom/Grandma Nancy
ReplyDeleteKeep trying Mom!! Is she putting in the numbers at the end where it asks if you are a robot? You need to sign in first, then write your post, then put in the image it shows and only then will it allow you to publish. If you aren't already signed in then your post will go to vapor.
ReplyDeleteAlso, general blogging comments tip - do like one or two paragraphs, then publish, then if you have more to say do them in another comment. Blogging sites are notoriously quirky.
Wait, what was the protest about the horses? Also, I have heard Eastern Washington is dry, but that is super dry! I would definitely have kept going to sea if I found myself there. The river is pretty though.
ReplyDeleteContinued strength sent to Heath in the middle seat - I basically spent my youth sleeping on top of luggage in the way back to avoid that spot, but that was before there were laws about that kind of stuff, I guess. Also, I wasn't going to say anything, but it apparently isn't an option in this case anyway. Have a good Day 2. I don't know what this 50 Museum loop is, but I think I know how many I am betting on.
I changed the settings so you can publish without signing in. Kathy my protest about the horses was only that a 5 min stop turned into a 45 min one .
ReplyDeleteAlso you hate horses.
ReplyDeleteGood job finding a restaurant willing to serve Heidi and Andrew beer. No point making this painful for yourself.
ReplyDeleteI like horses, I am just not crazy about horse statues.
ReplyDeleteLove love love the 80s album cover. Heidi is genius.
